Writer-blogger friend Sheila Pierson has bestowed a Liebster Award upon me. Thanks for giving my blog its first award, Sheila!
According to legends that come to us from antiquity, the Liebster is meant for blogs that motivate, inspire, and have 200 followers or less. Its apparent purpose is to summon new followers like some sort of mystical talisman, increasing the power of those of us who are just beginning.
I see the suspicious eye you turn upon the gate to my domain. “But the inscription here claims you have well over a thousand followers,” I hear you protest.
“While that is true, most of them are Twitter followers,” I answer. “My blog followers are, shall we say, somewhat fewer in number?”
I have studied the Liebster, forcing it to divulge its secrets. It shares some of the zombie virus qualities of the Lucky 7 Meme, with which I was tagged last week.
I now share the power, though it is difficult to choose only five:
- Laird Sapir – She is entertaining and a cornerstone of our tribe.
- Lara Schiffbauer – An awesome person with a friendly blog.
- Tami Clayton – Her accounts of volunteering in Morocco are fascinating and inspiring.
- Karen McFarland – Always welcoming and supportive of other bloggers.
- Write a Book with Me – Kirsten is a fellow How to Revise Your Novel student, carrying on a tradition started by Holly Lisle.
They are excellent humans one and all.
To Accept the Award:
- Thank the person who nominated you on your blog and link back to them.
- Nominate up to 5 others for the award.
- Let them know by commenting on your blog.
- Post the award on your blog.
Thanks again, Sheila!
Heeheehe, you’re welcome – the first of many – prepare yourself 🙂
Oh, I don’t know if it’ll be many…but I suppose I should clear off a shelf, just in case 😉
I love the way you wrote this, congrats!
Thanks very much. It was a fun post to write 🙂
Thanks so much, Mike! I haven’t gotten the Liebster Award before, and I certainly can use all it’s talisman-y powers to keep building that blog! I think I’m going to copy your post – it’s so cute! (I won’t copy it, really, but I do love the post!)
You’re very welcome, and thanks for the compliment–it was a fun post to write.
And I’m glad to see you were able to get my blog to load. I wonder if whatever was causing the problem has straightened itself out?
LOL Mike! “I share the power!” How generous of you! Thank you very much for this much honored gesture! Very cool my new cyber friend! Congratulations to you! 🙂
You’re very welcome. And thanks…congratulations to you too 😉
Congratulations, Mike! Well deserved award, and I doubt you’ll be able to claim fewer than 200 followers for very long as people find your blog.
Thanks, Helen! I don’t know if my content serves the reader well enough to quickly attract a large following, but hopefully they’re at least entertained 🙂
Mike – I’m baffled by this process of how to continue to grow the numbers of followrs. You are going in the right direction. Way to go and contratulations on the award.
Thanks, Sheri. I’m sure growing followers is going to be a continual learning process for all of us. It’s my understanding that persistence is the important thing 🙂
Thank you so much, Mike!
I can’t wait to read your novel, because your blog posts are seriously well written. SERIOUSLY. You are funny AND talented!
Thanks very much, Laird!
If my blog posts are well-written, it’s because I probably spend more time polishing them than I should. They’re much sloppier when they first appear.
I hope nobody is going to expect my novel to be funny because of my blog posts. It’s serious stuff 🙂
Maybe you can add a chapter or two of “outtakes” at the end. You know, bloopers and such.
That would be kinda funny, actually…
That would be AWESOME. You could start a whole trend!
I can just picture it…
“And now, sorcerer! Time for you to…for you to…uh…”
“‘Die,'” the sorcerer said, exasperated. “Your line is ‘Time for you to die.'”
“Oh, yeah…can we start over again?”
“Cut!”
Ha! I think you should make that happen. 🙂
We’ll see how much energy I have left over after I finish my novel 🙂
Congrats Mike. Well deserved. 🙂
Thanks very much 🙂
Congrats on winning the award and for the nomination! LOVE the way you presented it here. It speaks to how great your book is going to be.
Thanks, Tami! You’re too kind 🙂
I just want to ditto what lwsapir said about how well your blog posts are written and the outtakes thing – love that idea, too! 🙂
Thanks, Sheila…I appreciate the compliment 🙂
And the outtakes thing does have a certain amount of genre-relevance, although as far as I know, it’s confined mainly to Jackie Chan films because his stunts are what made him famous.
Yes, well your writing will make you famous without doubt… the outtakes are purely for my selfish enjoyment!
I dunno about famous…but if I end up being able to write stuff that entertains even a tiny, but regular audience, I’d be pretty happy 🙂
You’re really good…you’ve got a great combination of intelligence, fantastic command of language and an undeniably prolific imagination….Uhhhh – it just occurred to me my comments sound like something from a Dancing with the Stars judge – which is on TV right now, filtering into my ears…I still mean every word!!
That’s genuinely flattering 🙂 Thank you very much. I hope you know that I like reading your blog and think your stuff is clever and creative.
What an honor to be nominated in the company of such prestigious blogs!
I will do my best to live up to the high standards of blogging represented by the Liebster Award, and not disappoint my followers, though they may be few in number. I treasure them all the more because of it!
Thank you for thinking of all of us at Write A Book With Me. 🙂
It was my pleasure 🙂
